Introduction to Sleeping Tradegy...

In her sleep her mind wonders to the past. And all that envelopes her is darkness. Locked away from everyone and everything. She sleeps in an eternal sleep awaiting the moment when she is awakened and the day when her frosted eyes may open, and she can walk among the living once again..... Her hair the color of the blackest of all nights, her eyes, the palest grey of all, with deep dark secrets held inside. Her skin as pale as the moons eerie glow after a day of falling snow. Her lips the color of ash blue awaiting the kiss that will fill her with warmth, her cold felt hands soft as rose petals. Tears fall from her frosted eyes and turn to ice as they descend down her cheek. Who will wake her from this never ending sleep?.....

Chapter one: Waiting to be awakened...

Ethan passed in his room wondering what to do about the decision he was facing. What did I ever do wrong I don't understand. He throws the paper on his chair and falls on his bed starring at the ceiling. Ever since he noticed his father was becoming an alcoholic he saw his mothers worried eyes wondering what to do. Of course like all alcoholic his fathers excessive drinking increased more and more. His mom after several years decided to divorce him from the violence he was giving out at them all. The nights he went through hearing the screaming and never getting a wink of sleep. With a sigh he sat up on the edge of his bed and placed his hands in his hands and began think. When he returned from school his mom handed him a paper for him to sign on which parent he chose to live with and soon left to get more boxes to move her things into. Removing his face from his hands he looked around at his room. Posters all over his wall of his favorite bands, a small desk in the corner with a computer, a black chair, and a million CD's that he's collected of his favorite artists. Just like his home life school wasn't going so grand either. He was failing a couple classes and got suspended today for arguing with his biology teacher, and calling him a "bad" name. At least that's what the principle said. He never thought calling him a prick would cause so much trouble. Realizing he knew it would, he smirks. The realization of what was happening came back to him and he decided he needed to go for a walk. Grabbing his trench he leaves the house with a note telling his mom he wont be back for a couple hours. Once outside he takes a deep breath and starts walking towards the woods. The night seemed colder than usual and he loved it. The wind blew fiercely making his trench wave violently in the wind behind him as he walked. He stuffed his hands in his pants pockets and noticed a red corvette coming down the road. As they got closer he noticed the car belonged to Micheal Thomas the famous school jock at school. The school was proud and sported him like a trophy around town because of how many games they won this year. Ethan saw him as nothing more than a waste of air. When they reached Ethan they stopped and Micheal shouted freak at him and laughed an annoying laugh that made Ethan shake his head. The girls in the back giggled a little but also gave Ethan hinting looks as to let him know they wanted him. Raising a eyebrow at them he turns to Micheal.
"Oh yes, Micheal, I have noticed freak is the only word your mind can carry, you call me that at least 12 times a day."
"Man screw you."
"Oh no I will pass on your offer, I don't screw mindless animals that grunt while playing a mindless game."
With an evil look from Micheal and a lust filled look from the girls in the back he continues on his walk towards the woods. And smirks to himself when he hears the screeching of tires leaving. Ethan only being 19 fits the look of someone older, he could pass for 21. With Jet black hair and bright green eyes, and a devilish smile that can make every girl fade to dreamland, he even has a couple piercings. Several on one ear and even a eyebrow piercing, which of course is his favorite. Even though he may seem great and dreamy, he has no interest in noone. But that we would be because the one girl he loved died in a car crash over a year ago, and has never let anyone in ever since, for the fear of living through the nightmare again. As he neared the woods he heard a mournful cry from the right of the blackened trees. His eyes scanned the woods and saw nothing and noone. Although nothing was insight the cry caught his attention and he went in its direction to search for what had made it. Inside the woods there was no wind and complete silence, and to others it would frighten them. But to Ethan it only made his curiosity stronger and he ventured farther into the woods. The moons glow casted small spots all over the woods ground. The silence within the woods was broken when the trees above rustled in the wind. There were no paths so he had to follow where he thought the sound may have come from. But he soon became lucky and heard the mournful cry once again. Only this time it sounded so much more sad and more of a longing cry. He walked at a steady pace towards the cry and ran into an old boarded up cottage type of home. It seemed very old, but still surprisingly beautiful in a way. From what light that came from the moon it shone down on the small stone cottage and he walked towards it to look inside. The door was boarded up and he pulled the boards loose as quietly as he could so the silence wasn't broken. Once the last board was off he turned the door knob and the wooden door opened with a screech that echoed through the cottage.
Most cottages you would think would be somewhat small but it was actually pretty large. The room he was standing in seemed to glow in a inviting but eerie way. The marble along the banister of the stairs glowed and the crystal chandelier casted small lit dots along the floor, and the wind from the windows that were not boarded up so well made them move around somewhat. Making the room seem enchanted and mystical. The marble white floor gleamed under a small amount of dust, and the cobwebs in the corner sparkled from the moons light. Small icicles had formed around the house form the cold, and Ethan could only stand and stare at the room in wonder. But his trance was soon broken because he heard the cry once again. It seemed to come from upstairs at the right of the house. So he chose to go up the right set of stairs towards the cry. As he walked up them they did not make one sound, not once. As though noone had walked on them. It felt like ages walking up them, though they were not long. Slowly he walked up the stairs and stood in front of a door that was at his right. Reaching for the door knob he felt a gust of cold wind hit his neck and sent shivers down his spine. With trembling fingers he grasped the knob and felt its coldness, as if he was holding a icicle. His heart pounding loudly in his ears he turned the door knob and pushed it open. When the door was fully opened he looked around, there was not much in the room. But what was in there startled him and made him freeze in his spot, afraid to move. To the left of the room in a corner was a dresser, beautiful marble and wood, to the right of the dresser was a vanity its mirror covered in dust and a small music box resting on the vanity along with other things. A window was open its curtains flying in the wind around it, and under it was a canopy bed, white sheets covered all four sides of the bed that also flew in the wind. And you could make out a small shadow laying on the bed. Afraid but curious, he didn't know what to do. But without warning his body began to slowly move towards the bed. His legs shaking beneath him. He reached out with his hand to push the white sheet aside to see what laid on the bed....

Chapter Two: Tragedies...

Standing in the middle of the field wind blowing all around her she felt free so alive. But reality soon took its toll when she heard her mother scream her name.
"Syn Marie come in now!"
With a sigh Syn returned to her home. The cottage in the forest was not of great size but Syn always thought it was beautiful. Although the people that lived in it were terribly ugly. She had no need to want to grow up and no need to want to marry. But she was born into a fairly wealthy family and she was to marry soon. If she could find a husband. Many suitors waited for her, but none of them she wanted. They were all handsome yes but also too well mannered and not something she could stand to live with the rest of her life. Her mother was born into a poor but stable family and married her father who was rich. Some of his companies did not work so well so their money went down some but still considered rich. Being only 17 years of age she wanted to travel and see the world. Not marry and settle. It sounded too boring to her, but she couldn't tell her parents how she felt. That would devastate them and make them terribly mad at her. Her grandmother lived with them as well. She was a mean evil witch who would never stop saying rude comments to Syn. Such as never having her clothes properly neat, or her hair property combed back in wisps. She didn't care what she had to say. She just plain hated the old women and couldn't wait to leave her retched home.
"Syn I told you to not be outside for so long, you always get your dress so dirty." Syn rolls her eyes as she has always done when receiving the same lecture.
"I do not care mother. Its just a dress I have millions more."
"Yes, but your father has another suitor coming over tonight. I bought a new dress for you. Its so beautiful you will love it." Her mother smiles, and nods telling Syn to go upstairs and change.
With a sigh Syn goes up stairs to put the dress on deciding not to argue, it never gets anywhere. She didn't have such a problem though she loved her room. Its where she spent most of her time day dreaming and such. But none of the dreams ever come true. The dress was laid out neatly on her bed, black gloves beside it, a black ribbon and a necklace as well. She was actually quite surprised on the dress, its really the only dress she has ever liked that her mother had chosen. Maroon red silk covered the bodice with black lace over it and black silk fanned out by netting and fell under the bodice. It slid gracefully over Syn's head, and laid gently on the curves of her body. It felt so soft to the touch and sparkled in the light. She slipped the gloves over her hands, tied the ribbon in her hair and put the necklace on. Her mother had chosen the perfect dress. The maroon and black silk brought our her bright grey white eyes and her raven black hair. She looked magical and felt beautiful. Smiling she went downstairs to show her mom and tell her how much she loved the dress. Walking down the stairs she heard voices in the library and walked towards it. She opened the door and the sound echoed throughout the room. She saw her father sitting in his favorite chair by the fire place, and her mother on the opposite side of him in her chair. But there was also a man standing in front of the fire place facing it. When they heard her open the door they all turned their heads and just stared. Her father was the first to say something.
"Syn you look beautiful. Your mother got you the most prefect dress." Her mother beamed with pride.
"I knew it would look amazing on her."
The man in front of the fire place turned to look and said nothing only stared. He didn't need to say anything his eyes told her all. He was fairly tall but not too tall. He had dark brown hair to his eyes, and gold eyes with brown freckles that shone bright from the light from the fire place. They said nothing to one another only stared.
"Syn I would like you to meet Xavier." He turned to Xavier.
"Xavier this is my daughter Syn."
He slowly walked towards her and took her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He kissed her hand and she felt shivers run down her spine. He had a deep charming voice.
"It's a pleasure to meet you too." She smiled at him and he held her hand for several moments longer then released it. Her heart was racing a million beats a minute. She didn't know why this stranger she just met made her feel so...so... wonderful, scared, and amazing all at once. But she did love the feeling. And all during dinner as she listened to her father talk to him about money and such she felt like she was on a cloud. All she was thinking about was why she was feeling this way and how it caught her greatly off guard. But her thoughts were interrupted by her fathers voice.
"Syn what do you think?" She quickly looked in her fathers direction and started to think on what they were talking about but could not remember.
"Ummm what were we talking about again?" She gives a half laugh and her fathers gives her a stern look. Deciding it's the best time to leave she excuses herself, before her father could say something.
"Excuse me." She stands and so does Xavier. She smiles at him and turns to leave but, her father stops her.
"Syn wait, where are you going? We have a guest." You can sense the small bit of anger in his voice.
"Im going outside in the garden for fresh air." She nods to her father then to Xavier, and turns to leave again.
"Wait Syn, could I come? I would like to talk to you and get to know you more." Startled by Xavier's question, she does not know what to say. But decides that it may be a good idea.
"That would be nice." She smiles at him and he smiles back coming around to her side of the table.
"Well be right back." She looks at Xavier then as gracefully as she can starts walking towards the back door. He stays at her side, his hands behind his back walking at a steady pace. Once they are outside he takes a deep breath.
"This is our garden. My mother has been working on it for years." The garden covers a lot of their land, the flowers are bloomed and the roses have rain drops on their silk petals from the night before, as does the grass. Birds are chirping all around and playing in the fountains. Xavier looks around the garden and only stares, as if in a trance.
"Its so beautiful." She watches his expressions, and though she just met him only hours before she could read his face perfectly. She smiles to herself and walks towards the roses and touches their petals lightly watching some of their water droplets fall on the ground.
"This is my favorite place to be. Its even better at night. There's a large pond farther in the garden and at night when the moons out, the clouds and the stars are bright, I lay on my stomach by the water and look at the reflection of the moon in the water, running my fingers through the water. Its just so calming. Laying on my back staring at the sky, daydreaming and wishing. Its so amazing. " She turns to find him looking at her wonder in his eyes. They stand their taking each other in looking into each others eyes. Syn waits there wishing he would kiss her. Her mouth parts in want as she stares into his deep golden brown eyes. She watches as his hand comes up and touches her face. His fingers tracing every inch of her, her lips, her eyes, her jaw, he stops resting his hand on the side of her face, and brings his other hand to cup the other side. She feels him pulling her closer to him and closes her eyes. The want of the kiss makes the wait for it seem eternity. She feels his lips touch hers and tingles run down her spine, goose bumps form all over her body. He parts his mouth and their tongs dance to the melodies playing in their minds. Running her fingers through his hair, his hands slide down her to her back and he pulls her closer and rubs her back slowly and seductively. He pulls away and kisses her cheek, her neck, and back up to her lips. Her own lips molding to his slow seductive demand. Their mouths part and Syn takes a quivering breath. Xavier licks his lips then takes a slow deep breath. She opens her eyes to find that he still has his closed. She smiles and lays her head on his shoulder. He takes her hand and wraps his other around her waist and begins to slow dance with her. The sun begins to go down and soon is gone and only the light they have is the moon. He rubs his face against her hair smelling her, then whispers in her ear.
"Your amazing. I've never met anyone like you." She smiles and keeps her eyes closed and hugs him closer.
"I never want this night to end."
Unfortunately the night did end. And ended in the worst way possible. The sky began to darken, the blackest of all blacks surrounded them. No stars and no moon. Startled by the sudden change they looked around themselves. And felt a chilling presence sweep over the garden. Xavier pulls her closer protectively at the sight of a man who enters the garden slowly with a devilish smile planted on his face.
"Well hello." He's wearing all black and looks no older then 20, black hair hangs to his shoulders, and a cape gracefully falling off his shoulders. He had a top hat on his head, a tight black t-shirt and black pants. He starred at them with an evil grin, his piercing black eyes causing Syn unable to breath.
"Who are you?" Xavier asks with a stern voice. The stranger walks to a tree and leans against it with his back with his hands folded across his chest.
"My name is Aiden, but that does not matter, what matters is I was told that only Syn was out here at night...alone." His voice was luring, and Syn could only watch him. He licks his lips in anticipation watching her and she holds onto Xavier. Xavier wraps his arms tighter around her sensing her fear and also his want for her.
"Well she is not alone. Now what do you want?" Anger rising in Xavier he looks challenging at the stranger. He only snickers at the challenge and gives a short laugh.
"I am here only for what you want. I came to talk to Syn for I was asked to and since then I have been watching her for several weeks, and find her very enchanting. Especially right now. My dear I love the dress your wearing it look absolutely beautiful on you, I must say." He smiles and winks at her. Xavier's eyes narrow and he lets go of Syn pulling a sword from his side and points it at him challenging him once again.
"Leave. You are not welcome here." Sensing the threat Adian snickers and raises his eyebrow.
"Are you sure you want to challenge me Sir?" He gets off the tree and stands facing Xavier his hands at his sides.
"I am very sure, now I will not ask again, Leave!" Syn can only watch her eyes darting back and forth, her breath quickening with fear she quickly says something.
"Sir, please tell us what you want." He leans back against the tree sighs and looks at her.
"My dear I am sorry but I do not have time for this talk. And I apologize for being so rude. It is not the way of me. But I have a job I must do." He looks at Xavier. "Now, if you would be so kind and let me do my job. As I am looking quite forward to it. " He walks towards Syn and she takes a quick step back. Xavier points his sword at the man once more and he only stares at it. Placing his hands on the side of it he try to move it out of his way. Xavier snaps it back and brings it against his arm cutting him. Adian not surprised my the move only looks at the wound, then grabs the sword with his hand and jerks it from Xavier's grip and grabs on to the hilt pointing it at Xavier's throat. Xavier can only stare unsure of how he had done that. Adian only laughs puts the sword at his side and walks toward Syn again. Xavier grabs him throwing him against a tree and punches him in the jaw several times.
"Stop it! Just stop it!" Syn screams crying. Adian recovers quickly, bringing his arms up slamming them across Xavier to take off his grip, punching him several times in the face and then as hard as he can in the gut. Xavier topples over grabbing his stomach. Adian only laughs and goes back to walking to Syn. Xavier gets back up and lunges himself at Adian, sensing this going to happen, Adian brings the sword up piercing it through Xavier's stomach. Syn screams and runs to them pushing Adian off. When the sword is pulled out he beings to fall forward. Syn grabs him quickly and slowly lowers him to the ground. Once on the ground he's barely alive. Crying Syn watches his eyes slowly close and he stops breathing. Racking sobs begin to take over her body and she kisses his forehead.
"Now my dear, where was I?" Adian comes to her and pulls her up. She pushes him away crying and runs to the east part of the woods. Her dress trailing behind her, some parts being torn by the branches in the woods. Everything looks to her as a blur, as she runs as fast as she can through the woods. Her tears clouding her eyes, she doesn't see the root of a tree coming out of the ground up ahead. Her foot catches against it and it sends her falling towards the ground. Her tears mix with the dirt, her dress lost its sparkle and lay in the dirt in tatters. She could only lay there crying wondering why.
She never found someone who made her feel as special as Xavier. Even if they only had known each other for several hours. He made her feel so beautiful. What had she done to have that taken from her? She lay on the ground starring at the sky, drifting to nothing...

xXx

Syn awoke with a aching headache and looked around her. She was in her room. How did I get here? Then she heard his voice..
"Good morning sleeping beauty. You have been unconscious for several hours. And I could not wake you, you are so peaceful when you sleep. Soon lovely you will be asleep once again."
She could only stare at him. Words could not form in her mouth. She felt an odd feeling come over her. And even through the grief she had just faced she did not hate this man. She felt something. But not hate. He stared into her eyes beckoning her to stand and come to him. And she did so. Once she was in front of him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and began to dance with her. No music playing only the sound of her heart pounding against her chest. She closed her eyes and saw Xavier, she did not see the man who held her in the moons glow, that casted through her window. She saw the love she lost. He was holding her close and she was holding him close as well. He was whispering in her ear, telling her he loved her. He pulled back some and she did the same. Then she saw his face come towards her and their lips touched. As soon as she felt the kiss she felt dizzy and lightheaded. Her mind was sworming and felt herself falling towards the ground.
"A kiss of a vampire... as sweet as sin." Aiden's voice trailed off slowly in her mind. And once again in this terrible night of tragedies darkness consumed her once again..

Chapter Three: The Awakening...

Hands shaking he reached for the bed sheet to pull it aside..Not able to believe what laid in front of him he just stares taking it all in. Her face as pale as the white sheets that surrounded her, and her hair as black as the night that was in the sky behind her. Her hair slightly flew in the wind and framed her face. The dress she wore lay in tatters everywhere at her feet and flew in the wind from the window. Entranced with her beauty he reaches forward and touches her face. She felt freezing to the touch and he removed his hand. Though the touch was piercing cold it felt good in some way. No words coming to mind he just continues to stare at her entranced and not able to move. She looked lifeless, death looked as though it claimed her. He looked at her more closely and though it appeared she had no life in her, each couple seconds her stomach would rise and fall. She's not dead then... his mind went into a million thoughts, and he couldn't move, for the fear of waking her. So he just wondered how she got here and why she was alone in this house. Then he heard a small sound escape from her. His heart jumped from the sudden small cry that had escaped her mouth. As he watched her, he noticed a small tear trail down the side of her face and land on the pillow. He reached forward and wiped a finger across the wet trail on her cheek, and felt the freezing tear. He couldn't believe it. His hand wondered around her face, tracing her jaw, her eyes, and her lips. Her lips were the color of a ash blue from the coldness and he felt the sudden want to kiss her. He knew it would be wrong in its own way but he felt as though he was being pulled to her. Stepping closer to the bed he sat on it as gently as possible. Letting his hands roam her face some more then slowly down to her neck and her shoulders. He felt the smooth silk feel of her hair and felt his lips part. Leaning forward he kissed her cheek. And felt it warm under his lips.
Then he kissed beside her mouth, and felt his lips hover over hers, then all thoughts left his mind when they met hers. The sudden burst of lifeless cold filled his body and his muscles tensed up. It felt as though the veins in his body were turning to ice and he couldn't catch his breath. Fear began to take over him but then he felt pushed away from her and his mouth lifted off of hers. He caught his breath and felt his heart beat widely against his chest. Closing his eyes for a brief break he felt the bed sheets move and opened his eyes back up, and saw her shifting on the bed. His eyes widened and he got off the bed, and took some steps back. Adrenaline rushed through his body and he could hear the loud beatingg of his heart ringing in his ears. When he saw her stretching her arms over her head, he held his breath. Then watched as her eyes fluttered open and looked around, confusion all over her face, then her head turned to him and she screamed. He took some steps back started and ran into a small table behind him.
"Holy shit! God that was loud. I know your probably freaked that I'm in your room, but damn, why do women always scream all the time?" He said rubbing his ears. She didn't say anything only stared, confusion still written all over her face.
"Who are you?" Her voice was silent and he could barely understand her.
"Hell I could ask you the same. But I'll just answer your question. My name is Ethan Crandall. Now your turn. Who are you?" Being the type of person Ethan is, he tried to sound like he wasn't as confused as her, or as stunned. But inside his heart was pounding and he couldn't stop staring at her eyes. They seemed almost a clear grey, and he was entranced by them.
"My name is Syn Marie Morieve... " Her voice sounded just fine and he could hear her clearly now.
"Now Ethan might I add that you are in my home, and I want to know why you are here." She stared at him her eyes piercing through him prying him. He was stunned, speechless. He never had a girl talk to him like that. She just continued to look at him, a look that was saying, 'come on lets have it'.
"I heard sad cries from your cottage, and came to see what it was..." His words came out slow and unsure as if he couldn't believe was he was saying himself. She raised a eyebrow, then started to look around the room. Then the look of realization came over her face, sad, scared, and panic began to take over her eyes.
"Oh my god... I remember... he did this to me." She jumped out of the bed and ran out of the room. Ethan walked to the door and looked down the stairs watching her scramble around the house, screaming for her parents.
"Mama!!! Papa!!! Where are you!?" He could hear her voice begin to get shaky, could tell she was about to cry. So he walked down the stairs to see if she was alright. But she wasn't. He found her in the corner of the foyer. Her knees up to her chest, her head between her legs, and her body shaking with emotion.
"Are you ok?" He walked up to her and touched her shoulder. She slowly raised her head, and he stared into her tear streaked eyes, that were puffy and red from crying, he watched as tears descended down her cheeks and land on her lips. The chandelier on the ceiling casting small light dots on her face and her body. Reaching forward he wiped away some of her tears, feeling sorry for her, and wanting to know what was wrong.
"Hey don't cry, whatever it is I'll help you. Tell me what's wrong." His voice was soothing, and calmed her.
"You cant help me.... nobody can help me.." She started to cry again, her eyes pleading.
"How could this happen to me? I don't understand. What did I do to deserve this? I have nowhere to go." She starts shaking her head, and lays her face in her hands, and continues to cry. His eyes sadden hearing her, and he rubs her back, trying to give her some comfort.
"You can come to my house, and tell me all that's happened, and what's wrong. I can try to help you. I promise I'll try."
He watches as her cries begin to die down, and she looks up, and nods. Smiling he helps her up, he holds her arm and she slowly gets up. As they exit the house, she takes one last look inside sighs, turns and, walks away with him.

Chapter Four: Remembrance...

Ethan

The whole way to his house she says nothing, and he respects her silence. He watches as she shivers from the cold nights wind, and offers her his coat. She turns to him and nods saying a small Thank you. He smiles and puts the coat on her shoulders.
"You're welcome." He puts his hands inside his pockets, and they continue toward his house.
It doesn't take them much longer until they reach his house. He's thankful when he sees that his mom is not home, and he opens his door motioning for her to come in. She walks in standing in the front of the door after he closes it behind him. She only looks around, staring at all the items in the home.
"You have a nice house." She turns and looks at him. He smiles and says thank you, and asks her if she wants anything to drink. Syn nods, and he goes to the kitchen returning with a glass of ice water. She drinks it all down, and hands him back the glass.
"Here have a seat on the couch. I'll be right back, I'm going to bring you a change of clothes. I know my mom has to have some old clothes that will fit you." He smiles and she nods, and sits on the couch. He cant seem to stop all these thoughts racing through his mind. Where she came from, what she's doing here, is she an alien? He gives a small laugh at the last one. And begins his search through his moms closet for her something to wear. Shuffling through he finds a pair of nice sweats, and a black tank top, and decides this is good enough. He goes back down stairs the clothes in his arms, and finds her laying on the couch with her eyes closed. Slowly he approaches her and whispers her name. She shifts and opens her eyes, and gives him a small smile.
"Sorry, Im just kind of worn out. " He smiles back.
"No problem, we have a guest room you can sleep in there tonight. Now, do you want a bath before you get all changed and such?" Syn smiles really wide and nods her head excited.
"Oh lord yes, I haven't had a good bath in so long. " He looks at her and smiles.
"Awesome. Ok, I'll be right back, Im gonna go get your bath ready." He hurries upstairs and turns on the tub water. His heart is pounding, he cant believe this beautiful girl is going to be naked in his house. He cant stop the smile forming on his face. Of course he's not going to try anything though, but its nice to know she will be. He shouts for her that she waters ready and she walks in there not that much later and looks at the tub and smiles. He nods to her, turns off the facet, and tells her where everything is.
"Ok, soaps here, I got you a new one to use, shampoo is on this ledge. There's a tooth brush, got you a new one of those to use too and tooth paste beside that, there on the counter by the sink."
"She points at the tubs facet. We don't have one of those in my home. That's so odd but I like it. I wish we had one." He smiles, and shakes his head.
"Wow your family is very old fashioned. We'll I'm out, and here are the clothes." He lays them beside the sink on the counter. " If you need anything else, just give a shout and I'll help ya out."
"Thank you, I will most definitely do that." She smiles, and he leaves the room shutting the door behind him. Hoping silently to himself, that she needs his help someway and somehow.

Syn

For some reason unknown to herself. She felt drawn to this stranger she had only met some hours ago. Shaking her head at such a thought she sighs and looks around the room. The walls were a nice light tan color, the towels hanging on the walls brown. The room had a nice neutral calming look to it, and she liked it very much. There was no sound in the house, except the occasional sound of someone walking down the hall, and the small sound of water droplets falling in her bath. Shrugging and figuring she has looked around enough, she undresses and steps in the hot water and sighs when it envelopes her body. Emerging herself in the water until only her eyes and the top of her head are poking out she watches the droplets fall into the water. Then without thought she emerges the rest of her body in the water and lays there her eyes closed tight fighting the urge to break down. Then she opens her eyes in the water and stares straight into a man leaning over the tub staring at her his face blackened from the long coat and hood covering his body, but his piercing red eyes clearly visible. Startled she screams under the water and pushes herself out from under the water. Her heart pounding wildy against her chest her head darts back and forth throughout the room searching for someone and only finds nothing. The next thing she hears in Ethan pounding on the door.
"Syn! You ok?!" He's shouting Knowing he must be confused and worried she reassures him.
"Im fine. Everything is ok. I'll be out in a minute."
"Are you sure? I swear I heard you scream."
She sighs not knowing what to say.
"Ill be out in a minute."
"Alright." She hears him walking away from the door and tries to calm her pounding heart.

Ethan

Why had she screamed? What the hell had happened to her to cause her to scream like that? She had told him she was fine, but something in her voice made him to not believe her. Oh well I guess I'll talk to her later. The kitchen was a little messy and he assumed she was hungry and he was as well. Shuffling through the fridge and the cupboard he decided on Good Ole Mac and Cheese. He grabbed the box, set it next to the stove then knelt down and opened the lower cupboard with the pots and pans in it. Of course with his luck several fell out as soon as he opened the cupboard. Swearing under his breath he grabbed the one he needed and put the ones that fell out back. He filled up the pot and set it on the stove to boil. And occupied himself with cleaning the kitchen. Syn took longer than he thought but she did eventually come back down stairs only to find him stirring the pot.
"What is that your doing?" She asked. He turned to look where she was standing and found himself starring at her. Her hair was still damp and drips were landing on her shirt, which hugged her very nicely. And the pants looked as if they were made for her body. He felt his lips part, then shook his head and looked away.
"Im making Mac and Cheese for us to eat." He could feel his heart pounding rapidly against his chest. Damn was she good looking. Even though he was greatly attracted to her and his male hormones were ragging and part of his mind was saying you dumb-ass get right on that. The other half of his mind knew better and dismissed the thought right away.
"What's Mac and Cheese?" Syn asked confused. He turned and looked at her.
"You have got to be kidding. You don't know what Mac and Cheese is?" Grinning and shaking his head. "Damn, you have been missin out. Well prepare yourself for the best meal you've ever had in your whole life." He smiled at her, nodded and continued cooking.
She smiled back and watched him cook the mean.
"Can I ask you something?" She asked after several minutes of silence.
"Sure go right ahead." He looked at her from the corner of his eye.
"Why did you come to my cottage? And how did you wake me up?"He turned his head to look at her.
"Well lets start from the beginning. I'll tell you why I came there then you tell me how you got there and, I'll tell you how I got you out of it." He turned back to the food, and his heart pounded at the thought of telling her how he brought her back.
"Okay." She nodded.
"I came to your cottage because I heard someone cry. I followed it and it led me to your cottage. Then came to find it was coming from you." He looked at her from the corner of his eye again and saw sadness cross over her face.
"I was so sad. I felt like it was never going to go away. And I was so cold, everything was dark and all I could see was his sword piercing his stomach." Ethan turned off the stove and turned towards her. He could see the tears trying to break through her eyes but she wouldn't allow them to fall. Sympathy and anger pierced through him. The anger towards whoever hurt this strong beautiful girl before him and sympathy for her to have gone through this alone. Not anymore he thought..
"Come on lets take a break from this, eat some grub then we'll finish talking about his later." She smiled at him and nodded. He gave her a heart-stopping grin and went back to making the food.

xXx

Ethan took a long deep breath when she left the room. Finishing the food, putting it together and grabbing some milk he headed for the dining room. He placed the large bowl containing the food in the middle, set their plates down, then their drinks and went to find Syn. He found her in the study running her fingers over the binders of their books.
"Dad insisted on collecting every old book he could find." Ethan told her, looking at the books with her as well.
"My Pa was the same way. The study was so large, there was over one thousand books, he would say." She casted her eyes down a sad look on her face then continued to skim the books. He watched her closely, the way her fingers slid across the binding of the books, then went to the next one only to leave that one for the next. He watched the way she breathed, deeply, strongly and slowly. The way she parted her lips every once in a while to sigh as she skimmed over the books. Then she stopped and reached to pull a book out. The book was old, worn, it was a wonder how it was holding itself together.
"I know this book." She sounded astonished. "How did it come to become apart of your library?" She turned and looked at me waiting for an answer. I only shrugged, because I really had no damned idea. Deciding that I wasn't lying to her she continued."However it got in here, I'm just surprised because this is my father's book." She ran her hands over the pages of the book reciting words inside the book."I remember this... he said it all the time." She took a breath and recited the words on the page. "I will protect those, those who need my protection. Sworn under my oath and secrecy my blade is what will protect them from thee." She turned and looked at Ethan."My Pa was a Vampire hunter. A sworn warrior to kill the demons of the night. He protected our village for as long as I can remember."
If this were a movie there would be crickets playing right now, he couldn't help but think. Vampires? Villages? He couldn't help the confused and the 'are you serious' look cross his face.
She sighed and continued to run her fingers over the pages words.
"I know how crazy this must sound. Which is why I told no one, well also because I was told not to, but I would if I had trusted someone as I trust you. Which is crazy too because I have only just met you, but I feel like I can trust you, you know?" She turned and look at him her eyes pleading in a way for someone to understand. He nodded and gave a short and silent laugh.
"It's just kinda weird to believe that. Vampires? There is no such thing. I mean books are everywhere about them. But they can't be real. That's too insane. Like 'blah' gonna get you and suck your blood... vampire. It's too weird." Sighing she closed the book and gently put it back in its place among the rest.
"I knew you wouldn't believe me.." She turns to look at him her eyes sad but she forces a smile. "Hey forget it, ok? It doesn't matter. Lets go eat that amazing meal you were telling me about. Remember you said the best meal I've ever had in my whole life. Well I'm holding you to that." Ethan smiles some back but can tell her smile was fake. Her mouth smiles but her eyes give her away.
Later the evening got so much better. Ethan found himself smiling and laughing more than he had in a long time. She loved to joke and laugh and it made him to like her all the more. Watching her bowing her head over her plate then looking shyly up at him every once in a while, her eyes bright and teasing. He couldn't help but grin back.
"So, now that we have established that you have a great humor, and amazing smile, tell me about your family." She blushed at the comment about her smile.
"Well as Im sure you know. I lived with my Pa, and my Ma. And unfortunately I also lived with my crazy grandmama who was my ma's mother. She was really..." She looked up to the ceiling as if searching for the word in her mind. "The word isn't mean persea but maybe it is... I don't know." She gave a small laugh. "Oh well, no sense in trying to make her nicer than she is. She was down right annoying and cruel to me and I really didn't like her at all." She grinned at her admittance and Ethan laughed.
"Tell me about that." I said with a smile playing on my lips.
"Where to start." She gave a laughish sigh. "She always, always made me so proper with everything. My hair had to perfect always, not one strand could be array or the whole cottage would fall apart. My dresses had to always be perfectly pressed. I was never the type to be so proper and neatly kept. I loved to go outside and lay in the grass and relax or to lay by the pond and stare at my reflection and run my fingers across it. My dresses would always be dirty and, every time she would see it would go crazy on me." Then as she told me about her grandmama her eyes suddenly got sad and she looked to the side out the window. And I patiently waited for her to continue. "The worst was how she wouldn't stop pressuring me to find a husband." Her eyes shifted from the window down to her hands in her lap. "I'm sorry but I really... just... I don't know" She got up from the chair and went to the window leaning against the side of it with her side. Her hair was dry now and it was falling softly past her shoulder's. Then she shifted and leaned against the wall with her back. Then smiled a sad smile.
"Why do I keep on going back to sad memories I shouldn't be so sad. I should be happy. You got me out of that terrible sleep I was in, which I never actually thanked you for." She smiled the sweetest smile and I had to come back to reality. Lost yourself there for a second didn't yeah? I smiled back at her, a smile I hoped was equally as sweet.
"Well you are very welcome."
